Manufacturing note
A Mitered bend is a bend which is made by cutting pipe ends at an angle and joining the pipe ends. Mitering the bend is one of the ways in which the reflections can be reduced. Miter Elbow/Bend is made from miter cut pieces of pipe. The Miter pieces are also called gores, there are two end gores and two middle gores in a 4-piece Miter bend. A Mitered bend reduces some of that capacitance, restoring the line back to its original characteristic impedance. This calculator below helps calculate the dimension of the mitre bend. Miter elbows are made up through fabricating the numbers of pipe cut pieces and it includes numbers of the weld joint. So, the design engineer needs to design it carefully, as the more weld joints the weaker the components, and if the numbers of weld joints are less, the pressure drop will be higher.
